Planned Parenthood has already begun to perform webcam abortions, first in Iowa and now in Minnesota. Before we go into what will transpire in these webcam abortions, let us very quickly take a look at an overview of how RU486 works.
Very succinctly, RU486 works by inhibiting the production of progesterone, a hormone present early in pregnancy that builds up the nourishing uterine lining that provides safety and nutrition for the developing baby. With progesterone inhibited, the lining ceases to nourish the child, slowly starving it, and will many times result in it detaching it from the uterine walls, causing the dead baby to wash out of the uterus through monthly menstrual cleansing. Occasionally, the drug will not work on its own, which leads to the need to use a second drug, prostaglandin, which causes extremely painful uterine contractions to forcefully expel the baby from the mother's womb, many times hours later and in locations that are not conducive to safety or convenience (in the car, at work, while at home and away from healthcare providers, etc.).
All this being said, putting aside the atrocity of abortion itself, the administration of the RU486 drug should clearly be done in supervised contexts only. Yet, Planned Parenthood will be allowing "patients" the ability to take the drug themselves, sitting conveniently on their sofas or couches at home while being brought through the process by an abortionist via webcam, rather than forcing those who wish to have an abortion to make the trek to the abortion clinic. Clearly, there are reasons for finding this so disturbing. Not only are the complications numerous and 14 women have died due to taking the drug since 2000, but the drug can now be administered in locations far removed from clinics and hospitals who could provide assistance should something go terribly wrong.
So there it is. We are now murdering via webcam.
How far we have fallen.
